The Power is in Wellbeing, not Weight Loss

Let’s change the conversation. How about we stop talking about “WEIGHT LOSS” and change the conversation to “WELLBEING?”

Doesn’t that simple word change make all the difference in how you feel?

When we think about weight loss-there’s a lot of negative connotations there. Lots of “D” words- “Diet,” “Deprivation,” “Don’t”…. On a diet. Off a diet. Feeling deprived- I can only have this. I can’t have that. Don’t eat this. Don’t eat that. If I eat this, I will be “BAD.”

So much negativity! Yuck! Let’s ditch all these “D” words and “weight loss thinking” for good.

Now think “WELLBEING.”

Aaaahhhhhhh.

Doesn’t that feel better?

What words come to mind? For me, wellbeing feels like: healthy, strong, choice, joy, empowered, happiness, choose… (Yes, I know I put both choice and choose in here- being kinda redundant. But I did it on purpose). These words are incredibly important must-haves in choosing your best life. We are “At Choice” at all times. We are “choosing” at all times. We can make a new “choice” in this very moment. It doesn’t have to be the same choice we have been making.

The beauty of the moment is that we get to choose
something different if we wish to with every new breath.

Remembering that and coming from that place is much more empowering than “I can’t have this” or “I can only have that.” So what do you choose?

Do you choose to eat the fried stuff or the salad? Which feels better?
(If the fried stuff feels better to you, then let’s have a conversation about why that is.

If it’s relatively easy for you to choose the healthier choice, then just make that choice over and over again. And when you choose the less healthy stuff, forgive yourself, move on and choose healthier next time.

Wellbeing is a verb.
A present, ever-evolving, moment-to-moment choice
you make over and over by your habits and patterns.

I spoke with a client this morning about some choices she’s making around her health and exercise. She started from a place of “I don’t want to go to the gym. I’d rather stay home and watch TV. It makes me angry I need to do this, etc…. By the time we finished her session, she was able to see what was holding her back (stuff from high school gym class), and she was excited by the possibility of what finding the right fit could mean for her. New friends, renewed energy, feeling better overall. You know, improved WELLBEING, not just weight loss.

So what will you choose to do today? How will you improve your health and wellbeing today? Tapping? Meditation? Prayer? Exercise? Healthy food for lunch?

You choose. You have the POWER.
The beauty of this is that the choice is all yours. All the time.
